Volunteer Opportunities
Conforti Institute works in partnership with VMM (Volunteer Missionary Movement) and acts as Scottish contact for potential volunteers. Since beginning in 1969 VMM has sent over 2000 volunteers on placement in communities throughout the developing world.
VMM placements typically last 2 years during which you will share your skills with the local community so that your impact can continue long after your return.
There are vacancies in a variety of skills. Do you have something to offer in health, education or community development? For an informal discussion contact vmm@confortiinstitute.org or call 01236 707907.
Volunteer with Conforti on its Anti-Sectarianism Project
The Conforti Anti-Sectarianism Project seeks to enlist the support of volunteers who would be willing to work with us in listening teams to instigate and deliver focus group workshops in a variety of parishes. Volunteers will follow a template for asking questions and recording discussions which take place in the groups. Volunteers will work in pairs.
Personal Qualities
Volunteers need to have some experience of working in groups and an ability to ask questions and record the issues which come up in discussions in an objective manner.
Time commitment
The initial commitment requested would be the implementation of two listening exercises each in one Diocese and meeting again to report on findings. Depending on the results of the initial consultations, we would hope that volunteers would be interested in continued engagement to support communities to develop action plans where it is considered necessary.
Volunteer Expenses
Each volunteer will receive an out of pocket allowance that will cover any expenditure incurred as a result of being involved in the programme.
Volunteer Contact
Anyone interested in volunteering with the anti-sectarianism project should contact Geraldine Hill, lead programme officer. Her contact details are:
