Education Team

Tom Welsh
Tom is the director of the Conforti Institute. He graduated with STB, MA in Theology and Religious Studies from University of Louvain, and MA in Counselling at Loyola University, Chicago. His post-graduate studies include analytic psychotherapy, systems theory and group work, organisational development, consultancy and facilitation. He has worked in a variety of community and organisational settings including school and youth chaplaincy, community development, individual and group psychotherapy and he has extensive cross-cultural and overseas experience.

John Convery
John is the Depute Director of the Conforti Institute and also the Provincial of the Xaverian Missionaries in the UK. He worked in Cameroon for four years and, on returning to the UK, spent a further four years working as an RE teacher and Chaplain at Cardinal Newman Sixth Form College in Preston. He recently graduated in Community Learning and Development from Glasgow University and is now a full time member of the Education Team at the Institute. He is also Chaplain to the Catholic Special Educational schools in Glasgow.

Patrick Duffy
Patrick is a Xaverian Father who has a wide range of experience of working with children in an educational context. He has recently been appointed Chaplain to Holy Cross High School, Hamilton and is also Chaplain to the Catholic Special Educational schools in Glasgow. He has also worked in various parishes. He has intercultural experience after spending two years in Italy and six years in the Philippines. He is also a qualified ESOL teacher who previously volunteered with the Red Cross.

John Dornan
John is Project Manager for Global Education and has worked at the Conforti Institute for 8 years as a member of the Education Team. Prior to that he worked as a modern languages teacher in a number of secondary schools before working for different charities as an education officer and development officer. John also holds a Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education from Glasgow University.

Pauline Eadie
Pauline is a member of the Education Team at the Institute, having previously practised law for 14 years. She has an interest in human rights and social justice and her work at the Institute allows her to develop these interests.

Michael Canning
Michael is a member of the Education Team at the Conforti Institute. As well as being a former secondary Headteacher, Michael is also a qualified Life Coach. He has a wealth of experience working with young people and teachers. For the past 20 years, Michael has been involved in leading the Glasgow Archdiocesan Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes.
